Billing Providers

The Billing Providers feature shows a list of billing providers that can be reported in claim files to payers. Billing providers can also be known as entities that are billing claims to payers, who in return receive payments and denials.


Permissions Needed

To use the Billing Providers feature, you need the following permission:

  • Configuration Mgmt. > Billing Providers > CREATE or UPDATE or DELETE


Creating a New Billing Provider

To begin creating a new Billing Provider, follow the steps below:

  1. Click the green Create button.
  2. Within the modal, fill out the following sections:
    1. General Info
      1. Name - Required
      2. Description - Optional
    2. Provider Claim Name & Address
      1. Provider Claim Name - Required
        1. 837 Usage: NM1*85-03
      2. Street or PO Box - Required
        1. 837 Usage: N3-01
      3. City - Required
        1. 837 Usage: N4-01
      4. State - Required
        1. 837 Usage: N4-02
      5. Zip Code (full 9 digits) - Required
        1. 837 Usage: N4-03
    3. Identifiers
      1. Tax ID - Required
        1. 837 Usage: REF-02
      2. NPI or Secondary ID
        1. Note: NPI is selected by default.
      3. When NPI is selected:
        1. NPI - Required
          1. 837 Usage: NM1*85-09
        2. Taxonomy Code - Situational
          1. 837 Usage: PRV-03
        3. UPIN/License Number(s) - Situational
          1. Indicates if the billing provider needs to report additional identification. Note: By default additional identification is not required.
            1. Payers - Select the payer(s) to associate with the identifiers below
            2. ID Qualifier - 837 Usage: REF-01
            3. ID - 837 Usage: REF-02
            4. + Add Item - click this is you need to add different identifiers for different payers
      4. When Secondary ID is selected:
        1. ID Qualifier - Required
          1. 837 Usage: REF-01
        2. ID - Required
          1. 837 Usage: REF-02
    4. Programs
      1. Programs - Required for billing, but not to save the billing provider record
        1. Select the program(s) to associate with the billing provider record

Billing Providers Table

Within the Billing Providers table, you’ll see the following columns:

  • Name - Name for the billing provider record
  • Description - Description for the billing provider record
  • Programs - Programs assigned to the billing provider record
  • Last Modified - The date and time the billing provider record last updated
  • ID - ID number assigned to the billing provider record by AccuBill
  • Actions
    • View Record - Click to view and edit the billing provider record
    • Change History - Lists all updates made to the billing provider record
    • Delete Record - Click to delete the billing provider record

Bulk Actions

By selecting at least one billing provider record checkbox, a footer will appear with the following:

  • Cancel - Deselects records and hides footer
  • Export - Exports selected records from AccuBill
  • Compare - Compares multiple records side-by-side
    • Note: At least 2 records must be selected to activate this button
  • Duplicate - Creates a new record with the same data, just the name is different
  • Delete - Deletes the selected records
