Behaviors

The AWARDS Behaviors feature is an optional database enhancement that allows you to record and maintain records for an individual's target (challenging and positive) and replacement behaviors, and within those records one or more sub-records for associated tracking that has taken place. In addition, this feature enables users to generate customized reports of behavior and tracking data.

Permissions Required

Because the Behaviors feature is optional, it is not automatically available in all databases. When requested, it is turned on behind-the-scenes by Foothold Technology for individual program types. (Contact the Help Desk to provide access to specific program types in your AWARDS database.)

Staff in programs of the types for which the Behaviors feature has been turned on must have the following permission in order to use it:

  • Program Chart Access
  • Display Any Chart Records Buttons
  • Display Chart Records Services - Individual Button

Additionally, by default behaviors/tracking records are only accessible in read-only report mode within the Behaviors feature. If you also require data entry access you must have one or both of the following permissions, based on the type of data entry you will be doing:

  • Behaviors Data Entry (required to enter and edit behavior records, and to delete behaviors and their associated tracking records)
  • Behaviors Tracking Data Entry (required to enter and edit behavior tracking records for any existing behaviors, and to delete tracking records)

Associated Reports

AWARDS includes a Behaviors ReportBuilder for further analysis. You can find it in the Reports Index.

Working with Behaviors Records

  • Click Charts > Services - Individual > Behaviors. The Behaviors Index page will display.
  • Select the program from the Program drop-down menu.
  • Select the client from the Client drop-down menu.
  • The page will automatically refresh to match your search criteria.
  • From here, you can Add a new behavior, Update an existing behavior and its tracking record(s), View/Print a behavior and/or its tracking record(s), Delete a behavior and/or its tracking record(s), or Return to the Behaviors Index page.

Behaviors FAQs

Q. Can I print both a behavior and its tracking records at the same time?

A. To generate a single report on a behavior and any associated tracking records so that they can be viewed / printed together in their entirety, you must use the Behaviors ReportBuilder. When doing so, the filter and grouping options can be used to narrow down the report content to what you're specifically looking for.

Q. What happens to tracking records if I delete the behavior they are associated with?

A. When a behavior record is deleted the associated tracking records are automatically deleted as well.

Q. Why can I enter behavior records but only view tracking records or vice versa?

A. All users with access to the Behaviors feature can view both behavior and tracking records in read-only report mode using the View action bar icon or the Behaviors ReportBuilder; however, in order to complete data entry you must have one or both of the following additional data entry/access permissions assigned under System Setup > Permissions Maintenance:

  • Behaviors Data Entry - Users with this permission can use the Behaviors feature to record and edit behavior records, as well as to delete behaviors and their associated tracking records.
  • Behaviors Tracking Data Entry - Users with this permission can use the Behaviors feature to record and edit behavior tracking records for any existing behaviors, as well as to delete those tracking records.
